Trade Deadline: Update

Writer's picture: CodyJOliverCodyJOliver

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday (today) at 4pm EST. We saw one move today...will there be more?

Deshaun Watson to Miami rumors have calmed, as the Texans are reporting they are prepared to hold on to Watson through the 2021 season. Miami showed a lot of interest, but the uncertainty of Watson's legal situation seems to have the Dolphins choosing to exercise caution and take their chances in a bidding war in the offseason.

Veteran pass rusher Melvin Ingram III was traded by Pittsburgh to Kansas City earlier in exchange for a 6th round pick. Ingram was signed by the Steelers over the summer and had expressed displeasure about the playing time he was receiving, so the move to the struggling Chiefs defense makes sense for the veteran who hopes to help right the Kansas City ship, while Pittsburgh frees up snaps for their younger players.

Tennessee is not expected to make a trade for a running back, instead signing future hall member Adrian Peterson and relying on backup Jeremy McNichols to carry the load until Derrick Henry can return in 8 weeks or so. The Titans will have to get amazing production from these two in order to keep their playoff hopes alive, and a healthy Henry for a Super Bowl run may be the recipe for a championship...as long as the Titans can hold on to a playoff berth in his absence.

Von Miller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams yesterday in exchange for a healthy haul of high draft picks. The Rams previously traded linebacker Kenny Young to Denver last week for later round picks, and the Miller trade signals the end of an era in Denver with the understanding from general manager George Paton that the Broncos are in full rebuild mode, and no player is safe from that process.

We will keep you updated as the day progresses.
