The players have accepted a pared down version of their bargaining agreement, effectively ended the lockout that has postponed the start of the MLB season through mid April.
The details are being ironed out as we speak, with the international draft making headlines earlier today when the sides agreed to postpone negotiations on that til after the season gets underway.
The players Union achieved several key victories in the bargaining process such as the implementation of a bonus pool for players but failed to make meaningful strides in some of their loftier goals concerning salary minimums and luxury tax increases.
The season has been postponed through April 14th, but the end of the lockout means spring training can start immediately. Before that happens, free agency essentially begins as soon as the deal is finalized so we expect a free agency “Black Friday” of sorts, with deals being done faster than ESPN can send tweets.
