Kyler Murray Injury Update

The Cardinals explosive QB was held without a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers, and also suffered a fourth-quarter ankle injury during the loss. The injury appeared fairly minor, though setbacks in practice have Murray left as a game-time decision Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

The injury, a medial ankle sprain, generally takes 2-3 weeks to recover fully from, although it's common for no time to be missed depending on the severity (and mobility necessary for the QB). Murray's is medium on the severity scale, and the fact that it happened on a Thursday gives Murray an extra few days of healing.

While he is officially a game-time decision and hasn't seen the field to practice all week, head coach Cliff Kingsbury indicated that Murray doesn't need to practice in order to start Sunday-if he is healthy enough, he is a go. There is an air of confidence in Murray's availability for this weekend, but we should keep a close eye on it as Kingsbury also said Murray has played banged up before and been ineffective, so if he isn't in a "good place" they will rely on backup Colt McCoy for the start in Santa Clara.
