The turmoil surrounding the star QB intensifies as the trade deadline draws near.
Deshaun Watson is expected to be traded by the November 2nd trade deadline, and currently Miami, Carolina, and Philadelphia are the likely landing spots. Miami is thought to be the front runner, with a trade involving sending Tua Tagovailoa and a host of draft picks to Houston in return for the pro-bowl QB.
The NFL has remained fairly quiet about what will happen to Watson as far as a suspension is concerned, but the fact that Watson faces no criminal charges and the civil cases are still pending gives them a little leeway in the matter. NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported that per the NFL, Watson would not be placed on the Commissioner's exempt list because he has not been charged or convicted of a violent crime, or a felony.
We can take that to mean, wherever Watson ends up, he will probably take the field immediately, or at least be eligible to.
In fantasy football, Watson has been rostered in many leagues due to the expectation of this exact situation playing out. If Watson is available in your league, and you don't have a bona fide top-8 starter at the position, go get Deshaun Watson. And go get any receivers on the team he goes to.
We will keep you updated as the trade deadline draws closer, but as of right now, Watson faces no suspension from the league until the court cases are settled one way or the other.
