Ball 'Em Bench 'Em Week 7: Quarterbacks

With a few notable starting QBs on bye this week, most managers planned for this and already have a backup rostered. If that backup is hurt, or has a bad matchup, there are other options out there.

Let's take a look at the top 12 fantasy QBs for week 7, and we will go ahead and rank the rest for those in super flex (or simply super-thin) leagues.

With fantasy starters Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, and Josh Allen on bye, joined with fantasy backups Kirk Cousins, Trevor Lawrence, and Ben Roethlisberger it makes for slim pickings on the QB front.

Hopefully you have a backup in place already, as Derek Carr, Sam Darnold, Joe Burrow, and Matt Ryan all look to have decent matchups in the place of Allen or Prescott.

These next guys are technically Bench 'Em candidates, although if you can't snag Winston or Ryan for a plug and play, use the rankings to see which guy gives you the best shot at production.

Ryan Tannehill has the highest upside, facing a KC team that has allowed a lot of air yards, but the Titans have reverted to being so run heavy it's hard to trust the QB for fantasy relevancy.

Jared Goff finds himself in a matchup against his old defense, and while the Lions have very little chance of victory against the surging Rams, late game heroics and a tendency for revenge games to produce points gives Goff a positive outlook if he can keep the turnovers down.

Mac Jones faces a weak Jets defense, but the Patriots may not need to throw a lot of touchdowns to beat New York, and that caps the value Jones can achieve.

Jimmy G is a floor play, offering a solid 12-point floor and the possibility of more if he can get in sync with his receivers and pass catchers out of the backfield. Still a 16-18 point ceiling.

If at all possible, don't start anybody from the #19-#24 list. They all face tough matchups that either aren't pass-heavy, or game script looks to make their pass-heaviness ineffective (that could be the case for Bridgewater and Heinicke).

This is probably the last week Davis Mills will start, with Tyrod Taylor trending to return from IR. Look for all Houston pass catchers to get a boost when Taylor returns, but this week the whole Houston situation is tough to gauge, and outside of being forced to start Cooks, I would stay away from Mills even in super flex.

Good luck in week 7!
