Pro Bowl voting is over, and it never fails to disappoint. That's why they make the All-Pro List, compiled by the Associated Press, Pro Football Writers of America, and the Sporting News, which is a more accurate representation of who the best players of 2021 really were. Now that the regular season of fantasy is officially over, we put together the All-Pro List for the standout fantasy stars who deserve recognition.
2021 All-Pro (First Team)
QB Justin Herbert, LAC
RB Jonathan Taylor, IND
RB Austin Ekeler, LAC
WR Cooper Kupp, LAR
WR Deebo Samuel, SF
WR Justin Jefferson, MIN
FLX Leonard Fournette, TB
TE Mark Andrews, BAL
K Nick Folk, NE
DEF New England Patriots
Justin Herbert is not the highest scoring fantasy QB of 2021, but he is just 8 points behind all-around leader Josh Allen and when you account for the fact that he was the 5th-7th QB off the board, he gets the edge for first team.
We don't need to say much about Indianapolis RB Jonathan Taylor, as he is one of only two non-QBs to break 300 points through the 14 regular-season weeks of fantasy football. In his second year he has been an absolute beast, posting just two single digit outings (early in the campaign) and breaking 20 points seven separate weeks. There was also a 51 pointer in there somewhere.
There is about a 50-point gap between Taylor and second place, and nearly a 100-point margin separating him from Joe Mixon in third. The guy in second place for fantasy RB scoring (HPR) is also our second All-Pro back, Austin Ekeler. In addition to rushing, Ekeler's 62 catches from Los Angles QB Justin Herbert has helped his team immensely while also giving him one of the most solid floors of any back in fantasy.
Both Taylor and Ekeler were late first round picks and will certainly be climbing up 2022 draft boards, with Taylor an early favorite for first overall.
No Tyreek Hill, or Devante Adams up here? No, the best receivers of 2021 were Cooper Kupp (ADP 5th Round) and Deebo Samuel (ADP 7th Round). Cooper Kupp is the other non-QB to breach 300 points in 14 weeks, and due to his incredible consistency (he only went below 15 points once) and low ADP, he is a coveted "league-winner" for the managers who were fortunate to end up with him. I basically predicted this outcome once Stafford joined the team, I just thought the recipient would be Robert Woods. Whoops. Kupp is even in the conversation for league MVP, an award a receiver has never won.
Deebo has been getting action on the ground and the air, and his versatility combined with finally staying healthy has proven the doubters wrong. Like Kupp, his consistency has been invaluable with only two single digit outings (and missing one game), but otherwise he leapt off the stat sheet on a weekly basis. In his first six games Samuel scored four times through the air and once on the ground; over the last six games, he has scored once through the air and seven times on the ground. Versatility.
Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, and Devante Adams are all hovering close together in the ranks right behind Samuel, and while Adams may be the most consistent of the three, Jefferson slides onto the First Team because of his second/third round ADP compared to their first round status.
The tight end position was not kind to us this season, and while Travis Kelce saw more consistency than Mark Andrews, Andrews had the bigger weeks after week 4 and had the added value of not being a first round selection. While Kelce's rough patch occurred in the final weeks of fantasy football, Andrews has been surging with backup QBs in Lamar Jackson's absence, right when managers are making the championship run.
The First Team Flex award goes to Leonard Fournette, who was a shunned running back taken in the mid rounds, a place where we are warned not to waste a pick on a guy when you can get someone similar five rounds later. Fournette broke the stigma and entered the "league winner" conversation by exceeding his expected point totals by about 28%, putting him in the top 5 of the category along with the likes of Cordarrelle Patterson, Kupp, Samuel, and James Conner.
The New England Defense and the New England Kicker, Nick Folk, have consistently dominated the Special Teams aspect of fantasy football regardless of their opponent. Rookie Mac Jones has been good enough to not lose them games, and riding the Defense and field goals to the playoffs has worked so far. If you drafted either of these guys, you likely started them each week and didn't lose any sleep over it.
